Nyhavn
The postcard shot. Coloured facades, wooden masts and warm reflections — best early morning before the crowds.

I am Savvy, a portrait photographer based in Copenhagen, and I work with one person at a time so every session stays personal from the first message to the final gallery. There is no studio, no crew and no long list of packages to decode — just a walk through the city, a camera, and forty-five minutes built entirely around you.
Most of the people who book me have never had a proper portrait session before. That is not a problem to solve around, it is the whole point of how I shoot. I explain what to do with your hands, where to look, how to stand so your shoulders relax, and when to simply forget the camera is there. You do not need experience. You need forty-five minutes and a willingness to try a few angles you would not think of yourself.
A session is DKK 1,000, covers 45 minutes at one or two locations, and includes a fully edited gallery delivered straight to your phone or laptop. Whether you want portraits for yourself, a gift for someone, or simply proof that you can look at a camera and feel like yourself, that is what we are making together.
We start with a short conversation, usually five minutes, about how you want to feel in the photos rather than how you want to look. From there I choose two or three spots within walking distance so we are never rushing between locations, and I shoot in bursts so you have room to adjust and try again without feeling watched the whole time.
I shoot mostly in natural light because it is the most forgiving and the most flattering for skin, and because Copenhagen gives us soft, diffused light for most of the year. Golden hour in spring and autumn is especially kind to portraits, but overcast days work beautifully too — even light means no harsh shadows to manage.
Nyhavn gives you the classic Copenhagen backdrop of coloured houses and boats, best shot early before the crowds arrive. Christianshavn is quieter, with canals and cobbled corners that feel cinematic without trying too hard. If you want green and open, Frederiksberg's tree-lined avenues and palace grounds are calm and elegant almost any time of day.
For something more editorial, the Botanical Garden's glasshouse gives soft filtered light that photographs beautifully on skin, and Superkilen in Nørrebro brings bold colour blocks for a modern, graphic feel. Kastellet is a favourite in the evening, when the grass ramparts and windmill catch the last light of the day.
Nobody arrives knowing exactly how to stand in front of a camera, and I never expect anyone to. Direction is part of every session — small, specific prompts rather than vague instructions, so you always know what to do next instead of guessing.
This matters most in the first ten minutes, when almost everyone feels a little stiff. Once we move through a few simple setups, most clients relax completely and the photos start looking like them rather than a performance of them.
Students wanting a proper photo for LinkedIn or a portfolio, young professionals marking a new job or milestone, people rebuilding confidence after a hard year, and visitors who want portraits of themselves in Copenhagen rather than another tourist snapshot of the skyline. Women make up many of my clients — birthdays, new chapters, confidence portraits, or simply photos that feel like them rather than a stiff, over-posed version — and that is all covered right here, under one portrait session rather than a separate one. There is no typical client — only people who want photos that actually look like them.
One rate covers the whole session: 45 minutes of shooting time, guidance throughout, and a curated, fully edited gallery delivered within one to two weeks. Editing is natural and consistent — colour graded, blemishes softened where needed, never over-processed or filtered into someone unrecognisable.
Message me on Instagram at shutter.optique, or reach out by email or phone, and tell me roughly what you are looking for and when. I will suggest a location and time based on light and season, and we take it from there. No contracts, no deposits held hostage, just a straightforward booking for a session that is actually about you.

Good to know
No. Almost none of my clients have. I direct every pose, so the only thing you need to bring is yourself and a bit of patience for the first few minutes.
Absolutely. If you already love a spot in Copenhagen, we shoot there. If not, I will suggest one or two based on the light that day and the mood you want.
Bring two outfits, ideally one relaxed and one a little more put together. Solid colours photograph better than busy patterns, but wear what actually feels like you.
Portrait sessions are usually one person, but the same format works for two close friends or a parent and child. Let me know when you book and I will plan accordingly.
A curated, fully edited gallery from the session — enough variety across locations and outfits to actually choose favourites, without hundreds of near-duplicate shots to sort through.
