Copenhagen Graduation Photos, Studenterhue and All

If you are trying to work out when to squeeze a photoshoot into graduation week, this page is the planning one: what it costs, where June light works best, and how to fit a session around the vogntur without anyone missing anything.

For the full picture of how a graduation session runs, the graduation photography page goes into the session itself in more detail.

What a graduation session costs

DKK 1,000 for 45 minutes, the same as every other session I shoot. That covers the shoot, direction throughout, and a fully edited gallery. Family members joining for group frames are included — there is no extra per-person charge.

Splitting the cost between a couple of friends graduating the same week is common. We can shoot you individually and together within the same session as long as everyone arrives at the same time.

Timing it around the studenterhue and the vogntur

The studenterhue changes a graduation photo completely — white, red or blue band, your name inside, and by the end of the week covered in signatures and pen marks. That is worth deciding on deliberately: a clean cap photographs crisply, a signed one carries the whole week with it.

Most people shoot either the morning they receive the cap, when everything still looks sharp, or a few days later once the signatures are in. Shooting on the actual vogntur day is possible but tight, so the morning before the truck arrives is the safer slot.

June light in Copenhagen

June is generous. Daylight runs from before 05:00 until close to 22:00, and the golden hour sits comfortably in the evening between roughly 19:00 and 21:00 — warm, low light that flatters both the cap and the people wearing it.

Early morning is the other strong slot, and it has a practical advantage: locations like Nyhavn are empty before about 08:00, so you get the coloured houses without a crowd behind you.

Where Copenhagen graduation photos work best

Nyhavn is the classic, and the colour of the houses sets the white cap off well. Frederiksberg gardens give a calmer, greener backdrop that suits family groups. Christianshavn canals sit somewhere between the two — recognisably Copenhagen, much quieter than Nyhavn.

We can cover two nearby locations in the 45 minutes if you want variety without rushing.

How quickly you get the photos

Galleries arrive within one to two weeks, fully edited. Graduation week is my busiest stretch of the year, so if you need images sooner — for a party invitation or a print — mention the date when booking and I will work around it.

Frequently Asked Questions

+How much are graduation photos in Copenhagen?

DKK 1,000 for a 45-minute session with shutter.optique, including family or friends in the frame and a fully edited gallery.

+Should I shoot before or after the studenterhue is signed?

Both work and they look different. A fresh cap photographs clean and crisp; a signed one carries the memory of the whole week. If you cannot decide, the morning you receive it is the safest choice.

+Can we shoot on the vogntur day?

It is possible but tight, since the truck schedule rarely leaves a clear 45 minutes. The morning before the vogntur is usually a calmer slot.

+What is the best time of day in June?

Evening golden hour, roughly 19:00 to 21:00, or before 08:00 if you want busy locations like Nyhavn empty.

+Can friends graduating together book one session?

Yes. As long as everyone arrives at the same time, we can shoot individual and group frames within the same 45 minutes.
